Protesters blame INEC over Senator Andy Uba's WAEC certificate
- The senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District is
enmeshed in a certificate forgery scandal
- A youth group has demanded for his prosecution
The Coalition of Nigerian Youths for Good Governance (CNYGG) has
asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INCE) to retrieve
the certificate of return presented to Senator Andy Uba of Anambra state.
The group made the demand during a protest march to the headquarters of
INEC in Abuja on Wednesday, May 10.
The group accused Senator Uba of of deceit and falsification of his West
Africa Examination Council (WAEC) results which they say was
presented to INEC.
The protesters in front of INEC headquarters Abuja on
Wednesday, May 10...
Addressing journalists during the march, the convener of the protest, Lady
Peace Dimoji called for the intervention of the INEC chairman, Professor
Mahmood Yakub in the case.
Her words: ''We immediately call for an urgent intervention of your
office into this criminal act, not only to save the integrity of the
electoral process in Nigeria, but also to nip in the bud, the new breeding
version of falsification and deceit among politicians representing their
electorate.
''It is our humble and submission that the certificate of return of the
aforementioned individual be immediately withdrawn, and your
recommendations to the Nigeria Police Force for his immediate
prosecution.''

songs...
The groups - National Committee of Yoruba Youth (NCYY) and the
Coalition of Civil Society Groups said the senator must be suspended and
prosecuted following the certificate forgery allegation against him.
In a statement signed by the president NCYY, Oladimeji Odeyemi, the
groups called on the Nigerian police, the Independent Corrupt Practices
and other Related Offences Commission, Department of State Services
and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to
immediately arrest Uba.

Osinbajo is Nigeria’s Acting President, Buhari has committed no crime - Senator Gbolahan
Buhari's latest letter to the Senate
- President Buhari had in his letter said the his vice will be national
coordinator while he goes away on medical vacation
- Gbolahan says the clause does not in any way say that Osinbajo is
not Acting President
Prince Gbolahan Dada, representing Ogun West, has insisted that the
president did the right thing by transmitting power through a letter to the
Senate, insisting that Yemi Osinbajo is the Acting President, according to
the constitution.
Senator Gbolahan in an interview with Daily Post, said going by section
145 of the 1999 constitution as amended, Vice president, Osinbajo is the
acting president of Nigeria in the absence of the president.
According to him, ''The president has done what he is supposed to do.
Whenever a president is leaving the country to attend any function, what
he should do is to transmit letter to the senate, the law is very clear on
section 145 of the 1999 constitution which stipulates that where the
president is absent, the vice president acts, and that's what he has done.
He must transmit a letter to the senate indicating his intention to travel.''
He insisted the vice president should be addressed as the Acting President.
He said: "As far as the constitution is concerned, he should be addressed
as the acting president, he must be referred to as the acting president
because that's what the law says.
My take is what the law says, because it's stipulated there that whenever
the president is out of town and he transmits letter to the senate of his
intention to travel, the vice president is automatically in acting capacity,
that's the provision of the law and that's what is in the constitution."
When asked whether the Executive and the Legislative arms are in a sour
relationship, he said: "In a democracy like ours, face-off between the
presidency and the senate is not abnormal.
They may not be on the same sides at certain times, it's nothing
permanent, you can see that in England and other countries; everybody
has to stay within his own domain and work.
I don't see anything serious, the face-off is about positions, listen to me
and I listen to you; at the end of the day, we come out with a
conclusion,'' the Senator said.
In an earlier report by blissgist.blogspot.com, Princess Hadiza
Ibrahim noted that
some members of a certain cabal are doing everything to kick Vice
President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo out of office ahead of 2019 general
elections.
She made the assertion while appealing to Osinbajo, now Acting
President, not to resign under any circumstance.
Hadiza noted that if Osinbajo resigns, he would be betraying the
confidence Nigerians reposed in his joint mandate with President
Muhammdu Buhari .
She told Daily Sun that "In fairness, I also believe in Osinbajo. For the
little time that Buhari was away on medical vacation recently, Osinbajo
tried his best for this country. The value of naira appreciated. I am sure
with time again, the value of naira will be on a higher side and dollar will
be on a lower side."

PRESIDENCY REACH OUT TO CAPITAL OIL BOSS (DR. IFEANYI UBA) TO SAFE ECONOMIC DOWNSTREAM OF THE COUNTRY
President Buhari has extended invitation to popular Nnewi multi Billionaire Ifeanyi Patrick Utah (a.k.a capital oil boss)
Interactively, sources close to Presidency informed reporters that PMB directed VP Osinbajo to conduct background check on Ifeanyi Ubah so that the current Administration can benefit from his commitment and vibrancy.
PMB developed interest in Ifeanyi Ubah the moment he intervened to crush the cabal induced petrol scarcity days leading to the historic handover from GEJ to PMB.
Capital oil boss was able to flood the market with PMS and that literally step down the fuel crisis.
On his twitter account yesterday evening, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah admitted that the authorities have reached out “partially” to him after making the proposal to crash dollar rates to 200 naira last Sunday on channelstv.
Recall that Mr President had ealier ruled against devaluation of naira and insisted CBN should explore other possible option that could strengthen the naira against dollar.
Haven seen the magic Uba performed within 24hour, the presidency had no option than to bring him closer so he could be of service to his nation in a greater capacity.

‘Samuel Okwaraji’s death cost Nigeria Italia ‘90 World Cup ticket’
the death of the midfielder affected the country's football as well as
sadness at unfulfilled promises made....
Twenty six years after he collapsed on the pitch of the National
Stadium, Lagos, and breathed his last, encomiums have not stopped
pouring in for former Nigeria midfielder Samuel Okwaraji.
The 25-year-old fell down in the middle of a World Cup qualifier
against Angola on August 12, 1989, only to be declared dead later in
hospital as his team mates played on, oblivious to the fact that
someone so full of life moments before had expired in full public
glare in service to his fatherland.
In new interviews withGoal, former Nigeria star Etim Esin and former
national team coach Paul Hamilton have spoken about the implications
to Nigerian football development of the former midfielder's death.
Esin even disclosed that Okwaraji's death prevented the country from
qualifying for the 1990 edition of the Fifa World Cup as other players
became afraid that it could happen to them.
Almost three decades after the unfortunate incident, his former
teammate recounts the effect of his death while insisting that the
country has not done enough to immortalize him.
"He was a great footballer and very intelligent one. I think he was in
the first set of footballers to wear dreadlocks, which was very
strange in Nigerian football at that time," Esin recounts to Goal.
"We were on the pitch together and it was after the game that we found
out that he had passed away. During the game [against Angola], he
slumped, was rushed to the hospital and that was it.
"His death cost us the Italia '90 Fifa World Cup [ticket] because we
were all scared as no one wanted to fall and die. When we were at the
airport to board a flight to Cameroon, the likes of Peter Rufai,
[Richard] Owubokiri and a couple of players dropped."
Fifteen days later on August 27, the Green Eagles were defeated 1-0
courtesy of a Francois Omam-Biyik strike at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium
in Yaounde to end hopes of reaching the final African play offs for
the World Cup ticket.
Okwaraji had played for Nigeria at the 1988 Africa Cup of Nations
where he scored an early goal in the 1-1 draw with Cameroon in the
group stage. His second minute goal was considered one of the fastest
in the history of the competition at that time.
He also scored from the spot as the Green Eagles defeated Algeria 9-8
by penalties after regulation time ended 1-1 in the semi finals. He
played in the final as Nigeria lost 1-0 to Cameroon in Casablanca.
Esin expressed displeasure that promises made after his death has not
been fulfilled.
"No foundation on the ground, no benefits for the family, so pathetic.
Even we the living ones are still going through the same thing
fighting for a union that we can form into an umbrella and see what we
can do.
"Foundations should have been set up so that his family can also
benefit from the sacrifice he made for this country," Esin said....
Ronaldo overtakes Messi on European goals
Cup win over Sevilla on Tuesday and has now scored twice more than the
Argentine in continental competitions
By Ramsey dubem.......
Cristiano Ronaldo's double for Real Madridin their 2-0 win over
Sevillain the Uefa Super Cup on Tuesday saw the Portuguese reach 70
goals in European competition and overtake Barcelonaforward Lionel
Messiin the process.
Ronaldo was a full 18 strikes behind Messi in April of 2012, but has
closed that gap after netting 12 and then a record 17 in the last two
editions of the Champions League - and his two goals on Tuesday mean
he is now two ahead of the Argentine in the all-time list of European
scorers.
The Portuguese now has 68 Champions League goals and two in the Uefa
Super Cup for a total of 70, which leaves him tied second in the list
of scorers in continental competitions with former AC Milan and
Juventus striker Filippo Inzaghi.
Ronaldo is now only six adrift of former Madrid team-mate Raul, who
scored 76 times in Europe for Real and Schalke.
Messi, meanwhile, has scored 68 times in total, with 67 of those
converted in the Champions League and one in the Uefa Super Cup.
In total, Ronaldo has now netted 254 goals in 247 games for Real Madrid.

Can you catch Ebola on a plane? The deadly diseases that spread via air travel
Africa's largest city — fear was struck into the hearts of
authorities.
Tests showed the man had one of the world's deadliest diseases, the
flesh-eating Ebola virus. And it was spreading.
The traveller, consultant Patrick Sawyer, later died in hospital, one
of approximately 729 people killed by Ebola since it was declared
an outbreakearlier this year. There are fears for passengers who may
have come into contact with Sawyer at the busy airport and on the
plane itself.
But Ebola is far from the only infection that can be spread via air travel.
Here's what you need to know about your health when taking to the skies.
What diseases can you catch from air travel?
Flying is undoubtably a dirty business. Every year, more than a
billion people from the furthest corners of the globe share airports
and aircraft.
According to the Oxford Journal of Infectious Diseases:
"International travel has made the spread of disease via aeroplanes
almost routine. Outbreaks of measles, polio and cholera have been
traced back to countries thousands of miles away. Even Ebola
previously travelled the globe this way: During an outbreak in Ivory
Coast in the 1990s, the virus infected a veterinarian who travelled to
Switzerland, where the disease was snuffed out upon arrival and she
ultimately survived."
Dr Deborah Mills, Medical Director of The Travel Doctorin Australia
told news.com.au: "The level of filth all around us is amazing, there
are simply millions of bacteria and viruses. But we just don't think
about it as we can usually fight them off, unless our immune system is
compromised."
She said anything from the common cold and influenza, to tuberculosis,
norovirus and E coli can be caught on a plane.
"One disease of particular concern right now is the Middle East
Respiratory syndrome coronavirus, in Saudi Arabia which originated
from camels. We just don't know how bad it could get."
However, according to the World Health Organisation(WHO) and the US
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the risk of catching a
disease on a plane is similar to that of many public places such as
the office, school or shopping centres, where you're in touch with a
lot of people.
How are diseases spread on planes?
Most diseases are spread through close contact or by breathing in the
particles or droplets coughed or sneezed out from an infected person.
They can also be passed on from touching contaminated surfaces or even
eating contaminated food.
Planes are confined environments, and those sitting within two rows of
a contagious passenger for more than eight hours are at higher
riskof transmission, according to researchers. Aircraft can also
transport disease-riddled animals such as rats or malaria-carrying
mosquitoes.
So how can you prevent getting sick on plane?
"Firstly, don't fly if you're sick. Consider others around you," Dr
Mills said. "If you do fly you may want to consider taking a mask with
you, because if the person next to you starts coughing, you're stuck!
"I've had patients who have caught whooping cough on a plane. It
happens. So it pays to take precautions. Carry hand sanitiser with you
and make sure you wash your hands meticulously after using the toilet
and before you eat. Be mindful of the germs that live on the fabric of
plane seats and the tray tables. And make sure you get your shots."
She said travellers who've been infected on a flight will usually
develop symptoms within the week. Those most at risk include the
pregnant, young children and those who have untreated AIDS.
Don't think it couldn't happen to you.
"People are incredibly blase about the diseases they can catch either
on planes or in the destinations they visit. They think that travel is
perfectly safe. They're used to being in Australia which is clean and
safe and has good health infrastructure.
"But people are getting sick all the time, you just don't hear about it."

Have the Eagles been Super so far in Brazil?
Nigeria may have qualified for the last 16, but have Stephen Keshi's team truly realised their potential at the World Cup this summer?
It's no longer news that the Super Eagles of Nigeriawere the first African team to qualify for the party in Brazil, what is very much in the breeze is the fact the fact that they follwed-up that achievement
by being the first African team to qualify for the second round.
While the Super Eagles have been joined by Algeria, their successes come in sharp contrast to the failings (and indignities) of Cameroon, Ghana and the Ivory Coast.
It hasn't been a perfect campaign ,however, and this feature considers the good alongside the bad.
The Surprise Inclusions Particularly, they've been the ones that has surprised many the most, you cannot stop biting back your previous thought and verdict on them. Match by match they been improving their games and outstanding.
The less-fancied Michael Babatunde has been a handful for opposing sides whether playing through the middle or the flanks. The highlight of his outing being his darting run through the Argentine midfield, as well as his patient and well-calculated pass which created Ahmed Musa and Nigeria's first goal against Argentina, We might have to make do without him after he was stricken on the arm by a trademark shot from Ogenyi Onazi in that encounter.
Juwon Oshaniwa has also played his heart out at the left-back position. He's been massive running down the left wing defending or attacking and has made most forget about first choice Elderson
Elchiejile.
I wrote a piece on the inclusion of one of the fans' favourites Ejike Uzoenyi - disappointingly, my verdict has been subdued by the minutes and impact he's had so far at Brazil and in contrast Juwon Oshaniwa and Michael Babatunde have been impressive.
Could Uzoenyi be set to
receive his chance now that Babatunde is out injured? Controversial striker Osaze Odemwingie has taken his time to play
himself into our hearts with his Man of the Match performance against Bosnia & Herzegovina. His trickery, finesse and shooting ability hasn't gone unnoticed at Brazil.
I previously wrote an article on the need for an alternate plan for coach Steven Keshi without the team's main players John Obi Mikel & Victor Moses given their on-off activities at their respective clubs during the regular season. Three months down the line, Mikel and Moses are underperforming and unfit respectively at the World Cup.
While the coach has impressed in integrating other wide players into
the team in absence of Moses, the reverse has been found in Mikel's
case.
