England-based Nigerian footballer Nedum Onuoha, who currently plays for Queens Park Rangers, has been challenged to publicly declare his commitment to play for Nigeria if he wants to be invited to the national team Super Eagles.
In the past, the former England youth international had declined a number of invitations to play for Nigeria.
The Secretary General of the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation), Musa Ahmadu, insisted the player should not be begged to play for Nigeria, but rather must himself demonstrate interest to play for the African champions.
After Super Eagles' Monday's 2-2 draw with Italian team, Mr. Ahmadu observed they cannot force a player to join the Nigerian team unless he is interested.
After the game with Italy, the Nigerian team has been urged to be fortified in all areas with more quality players ahead of next year's World Cup.
Players like Kenneth Otigba, Kennedy Igboananike, Ezekiel Imoh, Leon Balogun, amongst others, have been suggested for invitation, while the likes of Joel Obi, Lukman Haruna, Taye Taiwo and Ike Uche have been mooted for a recall to the national team set-up.
